for the advanced training of engineers. The following list
illustrates the types and topics of seminars and public lectures that
have been presented.
LRFD Steel Design Seminar.
Taught a 9 session seminar to Alyeska engineers to familiarize them
with the Load & Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) Specification for
structural steel design when it first became accepted in the profession.
Concrete Slab-on-Grade Seminar, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska.
Prepared and presented a half day seminar on the design, construction
and maintenance of slabs on grade for contracting agents and
contractors.
ASCE 7-95 Wind Seminar, Juneau & Anchorage, Alaska.
Developed and presented a one day seminar on the ASCE 7-95 wind load provisions for the Juneau Branch of the ASCE.
NEHRP Seismic Seminar, Juneau, Alaska.
Developed and presented a one day seminar on the National Earthquake
Hazard Reduction Program design provisions for the Juneau Branch of the
ASCE.
Arctic Engineering Short Course, Anchorage, Alaska.
Taught lectures on building design considerations in cold regions.
Science & Technology Lecture, Anchorage & Fairbanks, Alaska.
Lecture entitled: Building in Alaska: Want Works & What Doesn’t
AISC Seminar, Anchorage, Alaska.
Presented a 2 hr lecture as part of a one day seminar presented by the American Institute of Steel Construction.
