In addition to the research contributions previously listed, Bart has been twice invited to share his views with significant gatherings of engineers.

He was first invited to share his views on the value of student chapters as a complementary component of the educational process.  This presentation was made at the 2004 ASCE Annual Conference & Exposition (Baltimore, MD) as was entitled “ASCE Student Chapters: The Professional Component of Civil Engineering Education”.

His most recent presentation, “The ASCE/AISC National Student Steel Bridge Competition”, was presented at the 2006 Structural Steel Educators Foundation (SSEF) meeting in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.  Bart was invited by the SSEF to assist Canadian schools understand the value of this competition to engineering education and how they can participate in it.
