The Beginner's Guide to the Steel Construction Manual (BGSCM)
With the advent of the 13th edition of the AISC Steel Construction Manual there were quite a few major changes in the steel code.  There was a big gap between the release of the manual the introduction of textbooks to deal with the changes.

As a result, Bart wrote a rough draft of his own textbook in the Fall of 2006.  This text covered the essential concepts of the code but is not totally self sufficient in that it relies, for now, on other texts to cover some general topics (such as history, the steel making process, etc.)  The BGSCM has not yet implemented it's own set of example problems and homework assignments.  It is expected that those will be introduced during the summer and fall of 2007.

Until the text gets fully refined, it is available for free on-line.  It is expected that once it is fully functional that we will begin charging for it's use.  Until then... enjoy!
